Rene 31" Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink, 50/50 Double Bowl, 16 Gauge, R1-1022D-16
An expansive, undermount sink divided equally into two bowls; each with tight, 3/4-inch diameter corners and an offset drain. The R1-1022D-16 is constructed from a single sheet of the highest-quality 304 steel. Overall it measures 31" x 18" x 9", with a heavy-duty, 16-gauge thickness. It will not rust or stain, features an alluring brushed satin finish, is insulated, quiet, and guaranteed by a limited lifetime warranty. Template and mounting hardware is included. Included is a fine-grained cutting board, custom-made to fit this basin. Created from the rubberwood tree, a natural hardwood, it is naturally mold and moisture resistant. Additionally, a groove along its perimeter channels away any runoff. To protect the sink surface from scratches or dents, two superior-quality, custom-fitted, stainless steel grids are included. The removable rubber feet raise them slightly above the bottom of the sink. One standard strainer, identified by its traditional shallow basket and stopper mechanism; and one basket strainer, with a deep, perforated, metal basket; are included.

Why does this sink come in three gauges of 14, 16 and 18? What is the difference and why is one better than the other?
Gauge refers to how thick the stainless-steel material is that's used in the sink. Basically the lower the number, the thicker the material. It is generally agreed by sink experts that a heavier gauge can help prevent denting and bowing, and will also contribute to noise reduction from garbage disposals and items dropped or placed into the sink. Therefore, 14-gauge is the thickest steel. A 16 or 18 Gauge sink is also a sound choice for the kitchen.
